Status: DESIGN COMPLETED, PENDING CONSTRUCTION.
tHE project is for the ground up new construction of a 3 unit townhouse in A LANDMARK DISTRICT IN Brooklyn New York. The design seeks to integrate Townhouse living in a 3 unit configuration where each dwelling HAS CROSS VENTILATION AND SOUTHERN EXPOSURES. The ground floor unit HAS direct rear yard access, the second unit IS A DUPLEX living space, and the top unit has access OUTDOOR roof decks. The project is also designed USING PASSIVE HOUSE PRINCIPALS AND WILL BE 50% more energy efficient than a standard building through the use of additional insulation AND ENERGY EFFICIENT GLAZING. The Units are DESIGNED with large open living and kitchen spaces AND HIGH CEILING TO PROVIDE A LOFT LIKE FEELING. tHE PROJECT IS Located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant historic district AND seeks to integrate into the context through the use of natural materials such as CLAY brick and terra COTTA IN KEEPING WITH THE CONTEXT OF 1890 ERA TOWNHOUSES ON THE BLOCK, BUT INTERPRETED IN A MODERN LANGUAGE.
